Monks and nuns enjoyed a relatively secure life, tucked away in stunning abbeys, in some of the most beautiful areas in Britain. However, once Henry VIII decided that they had too much wealth and power, their fate was sealed. Today our ruined abbeys offer a taste of what life was like living and working in a community dedicated to prayer and hard work. (pbk)
